Carlos Peucelle was an Argentine football player and coach who is regarded as one of the greatest players in Argentine football history. He was born on September 13, 1908, in Buenos Aires, Argentina and started his professional career as a winger for Sportivo Barracas in 1925.
Peucelle is famous for being part of the legendary Argentine team that won the Copa America in 1929 and 1937. He was also a member of the Argentine team that reached the final of the 1930 FIFA World Cup, where they lost to Uruguay.
Peucelle played for River Plate in Argentina for most of his career, where he won four league titles and one cup. He scored 113 goals in 329 appearances for the club. He later played for San Lorenzo before retiring in 1944.
After his playing career, Peucelle became a coach and managed clubs like Boca Juniors, Racing Club, and San Lorenzo. He also served as a technical director for the Argentine national team.
Peucelle passed away on March 1, 1990, in Buenos Aires at the age of 81. He is remembered as one of the greatest footballers in Argentine history and a pioneer of the modern winger position.
